Planters Ridge is an artisanal winery in Port Williams, Nova Scotia. Our vineyard, located on the sandy-clay slopes of a ridge overlooking the Wellington Dyke, benefits from a unique microclimate. Sheltered by the North and South Mountains and Wolfville Ridge, our terroir inspires our wines. We practice vineyard enology, believing wine is made in the vineyard, to create unique and inspiring wines from our land. Join us to taste the tradition and passion in every bottle.

The first vines in Nova Scotia were planted along the shores of Bear River in 1611 by French settlers. They recognized the warm and sheltered microclimate unique to Bear River was ideal for grapes. Almost four centuries later the original founder of our vineyard recognized that was still the case and planted vinifera not previously grown in Nova Scotia such as Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, and Gamay. Today our small vineyard is a mix of these tender varietals growing alongside other vinifera and hardier hybrids.

Beausoleil Farmstead is a small, family-owned and operated winery and cidery in Port Williams, NS. Family owned and operated, Domaine de Grand Pré winery was built on love and passion for Nova Scotia and exceptional wine and food.

The Jost family planted our first vines in 1978 on the Malagash Peninsula, jutting into the warm Northumberland Strait. Warmed by the slope of the land, and sharing the same latitude as the renowned grape-growing regions of France, Germany and Italy, the vineyard flourished and the winery was officially licensed in 1983. The winery store was opened in 1986 and quickly became a hub for community events and activities.
